Must read

Guwahati, May 7: A low-intensity tornado was witnessed in lower Assam’s Barpeta district on Saturday amidst inclement weather situations over the region.

As per reports, visuals captured by locals of the region showed a clear swirling column of air carrying dust and debris.

Meanwhile, on Friday, India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow watch for Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand and Odisha.

Assam and Meghalaya will be on high alert until Tuesday, May 10, while Sikkim and Odisha will be on high alert again the following Tuesday.

A yellow watch has been issued to remind people to be updated about the bad weather.

However, despite the region’s recent wet weather, rainfall averages for some of these states are still well below the pre-monsoon season’s average precipitation.

For the next five days, rainfall of light to moderate intensity will be scattered to fairly widespread areas across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura with isolated thunderstorms and lightning on Friday, May 6.
