Shillong, June 14: The department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary on Tuesday said that the spread of the Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in cattle cows is decreasing.
Dr P. Blah War, the Assistant Director of AH&V (Disease Investigation) department stated that as per reports, the rate of Lumpy Skin Disease has been decreasing as compared to in the last couple of days. The Doctor also stated that they are doing their best to prevent further spreading of the disease.
According to the doctor, there are about 168 Rapid Response Team ho are keeping close check on the spreading of the LSD, as there is no cure for it till date.
Khasi-Jaintia regions are the mostly affected by Lumpy Skin Disease when compared to other districts including- Ribhoi, East Khasi Hills, South West Khasi Hills and West Jaintia Hills were much affected by LSD
Till Tuesday, at least 45 cows died due to his, mostly from West Jaintia Hills.
Dr Blah further said that consuming of beef and milk will not affect the health of consumers. However, both the milk and meat has to be cooked properly before consuming.
The Veterinary Doctor also informed that the rate of the African Swine Flu has been declining and no death were reported since June 2.
