TURA, Aug 3 : West Garo Hills Deputy commissioner Jagdish Chelani has stated that two enquiries initiated into the July 24th mob violence outside the chief minister’s mini secretariat in Tura Dakopgre will bring the evidence to the fore about the premeditated attempt or a conspiracy to harm Chief minister Conrad K Sangma while he was inside the building holding talks with representatives of pressure groups.
The deputy commissioner on Wednesday issued a clarification to clear the air on recent statements relating to the incident.
“Contrary to some circulating reports, it is hereby clarified that the undersigned did not reject the statements made by the Director General of Police (DGP) about the nature and the scope of the violent incident,” stated the DC.
“The preliminary information shows that a set of elements who instigated the mob were behind the violent incident and had ulterior motives to cause such unrest, harm and violence. At present, it is premature to completely rule out the possibility of pre-planning by these anti-social elements. The magisterial inquiry report will provide clarity on the matter,” assured DC Chelani.
On the confusion prevailing over his earlier statement to the media, the deputy commissioner said that the earlier recorded statement was made in a different context as was understood at the time by him and any misunderstanding in that regard was unintentional.
“The Deputy Commissioner’s office is fully committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice. Transparency is our priority, and we will continue to update as new information arises,” said Jagdish Chelani.
