Ampati, Sept 5: The 2nd Edition of the MLA Cup of Mahendraganj Constituency officially commenced on Thursday at the Boldamgre Playground, South West Garo Hills. The event was inaugurated with much fanfare, with Sanjay A. Sangma, MLA of Mahendraganj and Advisor to the Government of Meghalaya, gracing the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Pongseng R. Marak, MLA of Bajengdoba and Chairman of the State Level Public Grievances Committee, Government of Meghalaya, served as the Chief Guest.

The MLA Cup, an Inter-Locality Football Tournament, is being organised by the Rangdokram Socio Cultural Club, Boldamgre, with participation from 31 teams, showcasing the local talent and love for football.

The tournament’s opening match set the tone for what promises to be an exciting competition. In the opening match, Domapara FC and Garagre FC went head-to-head, thrilling spectators with a 1-1 draw. The match was ultimately decided by a tie-breaker, where Domapara FC emerged victorious with a score of 4-3.

The MLA Cup is more than just a football tournament; it is a platform for young athletes to showcase their talent and for communities to come together. This tournament highlights the importance of sports in fostering unity and promoting the physical well-being of the youth and nurturing local talent.

The tournament will continue over the coming days, with teams from various localities competing for the coveted MLA Cup title.
