Shillong, April 30: To improve healthcare in remote villages, the MLA of Mahendraganj, Sanjay A. Sangma donated seven ambulances under the Special Rural Works Programme (SRWP) for the years 2023–24 and 2024–25.
The ambulance was handed over to St. Anne’s School in Garagre Village, under the Zikzak C&RD Block.
These ambulances will help people in rural areas of South West Garo Hills get emergency medical help faster.

Sangma, who is from Boldamgre, said he remembers how hard it was to get medical help when he was growing up, especially for pregnant women. He said his donations come from his desire to help his people.
Besides healthcare, Sangma has also worked to improve roads and build waiting sheds for commuters. He said many challenges remain, but he is fully committed to developing his constituency.
“As someone who grew up here, I understand the struggles of my people. I will continue to work hard so these efforts make a real difference,” Sangma said.
