Shillong, May 2: With several sections of the state demanding the state government to defer the implementation of Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission into Under Graduate (UG) courses in the state, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday informed that the Centre has given a positive response to the state on exempting students from appearing for the CUET.
Thank Union Education Minister @dpradhanbjp Ji for his positive response to our request to exempt non-centrally funded/private colleges & State Govt aided colleges from appearing for the CUET exams. This addresses the concerns of students of our State to a great extent. pic.twitter.com/LqOusN1jXA

Mentionably, Meghalaya government had written to Government of India regarding the difficulties faced by the students of the State with regard to CUET and sought some respite.
Sangma on Monday informed that the Centre will come up with a notification but it will only apply to private colleges and colleges funded by the State Government affiliated to NEHU. For those who would like to pursue courses in other central universities, the exam continues to remain mandatory.
Almost all colleges in the State of Meghalaya are affiliated to NEHU.
