Shillong, April 29: A man lost his life in a tragic accident on Tuesday after the speeding car he was travelling in crashed into the railing at Umiam Flyover, throwing him out of the vehicle.
The victim identified as 41-year-old Nobin Singh of Mukhla
According to police report, the accident occurred around 2:35 PM. The victim was traveling in a Maruti Suzuki Wagon R (ML 05 AC 5114) driven by Gobinda Biswas, a resident of Assam. The vehicle was en route to Guwahati when the driver lost control while negotiating a curve on the flyover. The car struck the side of the road, causing Singh, who was seated in the front passenger seat, to be ejected from the vehicle.

Singh sustained critical head injuries in the fall and was rushed to Civil Hospital, Nongpoh, by a 108 ambulance.
However, the police informed that he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Two other passengers in the back seat — Bijoy Singh, the victim’s brother and Baris Marboh of Puriang escaped unhurt.
The driver and another occupant were sent for medical examination, while the vehicle was towed to the Umiam Police Station for safe custody.
