Imphal, July 15: Three trucks loaded with empty gas cylinders were set ablaze by miscreants in Manipur’s Imphal West district on Saturday.
According to reports, the trucks belonged to the Misao Gas agency.
“The trucks were set on fire by unidentified armed men at around 9.55 am,” a police official said.
Meanwhile, personnel from the Sekami police station and two fire tenders rushed to the spot, but the vehicles were badly damaged.
In another incident, a woman was shot dead in Imphal East district on Saturday.
The woman’s body was found at a place near Kei Heikak Mapal Maning Leikai.
Security personnel have launched massive operation in Imphal West against the insurgent groups.
“We have launched an operation against the incidents which took place today. Miscreants don’t want peaceful atmosphere to prevail in Manipur and as a result they are trying to spread hatred,” said the police official.
Two persons were injured in a firing incident in Thangmeiband Polem Leikain in Manipur’s Imphal West district on Friday night.
The injured have been identified as Potsangbam Sanaton (37) of Keishamthong Top Leirak, Imphal and Amavash Yadav (48) from Madhubani district of Bihar, but presently staying at Khoyathong Polem Leikai, Imphal.
