Imphal, Sep 10: The Manipur Cabinet said on Saturday that it has decided to take necessary action against both the state and central forces in any case of “high handedness towards the civilians”.
This decision by the state cabinet led by Chief Minister N. Biren Singh comes a day after two civilians were killed and over 50 people were injured in a clash with security forces in Pallel town of Tengnoupal district.
Taking to X, CM Biren Singh wrote, “Chaired a Cabinet Meeting at my Secretariat and deliberated on various important matters of the State.”

After the meeting, Manipur’s Public Relation Minister S Ranjan said on that the Cabinet led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh criticised the alleged “unwanted action” of the central armed forces against the protestors.
The state government will also apprise the Central government with a report on the issue, he added.
On Friday, groups of Meitei women, known as Meira Paibis, started blocking the roads and stopping security forces from moving out of their camps to handle the situation in Pallel.
Following this, the armed forces and some miscreants started firing at each other. Security forces also fired tear gas shells in the area to control the situation.
