Imphal, March 22: Manipur police have busted an inter-state vehicle theft racket and recovered two vehicles from Thoubal district during the past 24 hours.
The recovered vehicles are Maruti Swift ZXI (white) bearing registration No. ML04D 1580, chassis No. MBHCZC63SL J626703, engine No. K12MP1251058, and Maruti Swift VXI (grey) bearing registration No. WB02AF 6824, chassis No. MA3EKD1S00694098, engine No. K12MN1427377.

Police launched a crackdown after getting information that some notorious inter-state motorcycle and four-wheeler gangs were trying to sell stolen vehicles in Ushoipokpi village under Lilong police station in Thoubal.
The two vehicles were successfully recovered by police during the crackdown.
The Assam Police recently arrested 11 members of a notorious motorcycle theft gang operating between Assam and Manipur along with the recovery of 13 stolen motorcycles and three cars.

Sources said the inter-state vehicle theft has been operating in a well coordinated manner and after lifting the vehicle they sell it in Myanmar through agents.
Meanwhile, Manipur police have started an investigation and are trying to unearth the links related to vehicle thefts.
