Dibrugarh, Dec 1: A marathon promoting awareness against drug abuse in Arunachal Pradesh evoked good response with 300 people participating.
The marathon held on Monday in Boleng, Siang district, Arunachal Pradesh, was organized by local MLA and Minister for PR, RD, Cooperation & Transport, Ojing Tasing. The event aimed to raise awareness about drug abuse among the youth.
The marathon featured a 10 km race for men and a 6 km race for women, with around 300 participants from across the state, including state-level athletes. The event was flagged off by Minister Tasing in the presence of Zilla Parishad Chairperson Osi Pabin Mibang and other dignitaries.
In the men’s category, Harang Cheri from Seppa, East Kameng, won first place, followed by Somo Binggep from Dalbing, Upper Siang, and Taja Tatin from Sine, Siang. In the women’s category, Jyoti Mane from Shi-Yomi secured first place, with Albina Doley from Oyan, East Siang, and Ajok Libang from Mariyang, Upper Siang, taking second and third positions, respectively.
The marathon highlighted the importance of community involvement in combating drug abuse, inspiring participants and spectators alike.
