Shillong, April 1: NPP leader from Garo Hills and cabinet minister Marcuise N Marak on Tuesday demanded the former Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh to tender apology for his derogatory remarks against (L) Purno Agitok Sangma.

“Therefore, I totally condemn this on behalf of NPP party Garo Hills and I seek an apology from N Biren Singh,” Marak told reporters.

He said, “N Biren Singh, who is a former chief minister of Manipur and he has created a mess in Manipur, and this everyone knows it, and now he is putting blame on PA Sangma, who is no longer with us in this world. This is totally unacceptable. We condemn it and I seek an apology from N Biren Singh because you should not blame PA Sangma.”

He said PA Sangma was a leader of highest integrity. “He has been a national leader, who worked for the people of North East and for every state and his principle is (to) unite everyone and not to divide each one of us,” Marak added.

Singh had recently accused Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma of interfering in Manipur’s internal affairs, and had also dragged the name of (L) PA Sangma, accusing the late leader of advocating division of north east region into smaller states along ethnic lines.
