Guwahati, Dec 24: A team of researchers and environmentalists from Assam’s Silchar have rescued a massive 17-foot Burmese python weighing nearly 100-kg recently from a hostel of Assam University, Silchar.
Wildlife researcher and conservationist, Bishal Sonar, who led the rescue operation, said that this is possibly the largest-ever reptile found in a human habitat in the Barak Valley part of Assam.
Wildlife conservationist Trikal Chakraborty, who assisted Sonar in the operation, said that the Burmese python was rescued on December 18 evening and, with the help of the forest officials it was released in the forest.
