Agartala, Jan 31: Ahead of assembly polls in Tripura, the police have launched massive crackdown to maintain law and order in the State.
100 companies of CAPF have arrived and deployed for extensive coverage of interior areas of the state.
“Moreover, 200 Coys (companies) of CAPF in addition to above are likely to arrive by the first week of February, 2023. These CAPFs are being used for area domination, patrolling, flag march, vehicular patrolling, Naka duty, raids etc. apart from counter insurgency operations,” a press statement issued by Tripura DGP office read.
“After the announcement of assembly election a total 192 Naka points have been established. Naka checking is going on regularly in all naka points. Special vehicle checking is also going on and on 22nd January 2023 a special drive for vehicle checking was launched and over 11000 vehicles were checked,” it said.
“On the preventive action front a huge number of Prosecution Reports have been submitted to bind down habitual offenders. More than 700 PRs were submitted U/S 107 CrPC till now,” the release added.
It further stated, “In order to maintain a sense of security in the State so far more than 1700 flag marches/ area domination patrolling have been done with joint participation of State police, TSR and CAPF.”
Meanwhile, police have seized 138 grams of heroin, 12945 numbers Yaba tablets, 9600 cough syrup bottles, 3850 IMFL bottles, 25050 litres of CM liquor, and Rs 17 lakh Indian currency.
