Shillong, Dec 30: A massive fire broke out at Kut Village under Mawryngkneng Constituency, East Khasi Hills District, on Sunday afternoon, leaving a family homeless just days before the New Year.

It was reported that a passer-by first noticed the fire and promptly alerted the villagers.

The house belonged to Nidasris Pde, who lived there with her family.

Fortunately, there were no casualties, as the family managed to escape after being warned in time.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined at the time of filing this report.
