Shillong, Mar 5: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday assured that construction of the office of the Emergency and Fire Service Station at Mawryngkneng will start very soon.
“The deputy commissioner has handed over the land measuring 22000sq ft to the home police department and very soon construction will start. Once that is completed, the fire service station will be ultimately operationalised,” Tynsong said while replying in the Assembly.
He informed that the engineering wing of the home police will prepare the detailed project report (DPR).
“Once DPR is prepared, we will move for necessary sanction and thereafter work will take place,” Tynsong assured.
Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma while raising a supplementary question wanted to know if setting up of fire stations in the different places is being taken on priority by the government in view of the incidents of wild fire in the state to which Tynsong replied in the affirmative.
