Six students of Sherwood School in Tura among Top 20

Tura, April 5: As the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) declared the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) 2025 results on Saturday, South Garo Hills emerged as the top-performing district among the five in the Garo region, recording an impressive pass percentage of 88.32%.

West Garo Hills secured a total of 80.50% pass percentage, East Garo Hills at 80.31%, North Garo Hills at 75.76% and South West Garo Hills at 74.77%.

The results this year were particularly encouraging for the region as 18 students from various schools across Garo Hills secured ranks in the Top 20 list.

Among the top scorers was Pori Panday in the 2nd position from Jawaharlal Nehru Higher Secondary School, Phulbari

Esther D Shira of Sherwood School, Tura and Mahir Islam of Mahendraganj Higher Secondary School, Mahendraganj who both ranked fifth with 570 marks.

Sherwood School in Tura achieved a 100% pass percentage, with all 43 students who appeared successfully clearing the examination.

In sixth rank, Ian Dongkam M Marak from Casarina Public School, Tura and Bathsheba Ch Sangma from St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Tura, both secured 569 marks.

Casarina Public School also achieved a 100% pass percentage, with all 44 students who appeared successfully clearing the exams.

But the most impressive achievement comes from St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, where all 90 students who appeared for the SSLC 2025 exams passed, earning the school a perfect 100% pass percentage.

The eighth position also saw strong representation from Garo Hills, with Trishita Koch of Embee Rosebud Higher Secondary School, Tura; Algaro Thardy M Marak from St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Dalu and Musa Kazi from Janapriya Higher Secondary School, Bholarbhita—all scoring 568 marks.

Ninth position- Abu Towfique Elahi Mondal of Jawaharlal Nehru Higher Secondary School, Phulbari with 566 marks.

In the twelfth position, Shreyan Sarker represented Sherwood School, Tura and Umalize D Sangma of Loyola Secondary School, Dawagre both with 563 marks.

The thirteenth position featured two more students from Sherwood School — Aritra Paul and Pranjal Mishra.

At the sixteenth position, Afchica Viesa D Marak from Aeroville Higher Secondary School and Ankit Mondal from Sherwood School made their mark.

In the seventeenth position, Trivayan Hajong of Sherwood School and Aganchi K Sangma from Green Yard Secondary School, Williamnagar also secured top ranks.

In nineteen- Rehan Mahammed of Jawaharlal Nehru Higher Secondary School, Phulbari.

In South Garo Hills, out of 3,298 students who appeared for the SSLC 2025 examination, 2,913 successfully passed.

West Garo Hills saw 11,943 candidates appear, with 9,615 clearing the exam.

In East Garo Hills, 3,226 students took the exam, and 2,591 passed.

North Garo Hills recorded 4,391 examinees, of whom 3,327 passed.

While, South West Garo Hills had 4,563 students appear, with 3,412 has cleared the SSLC exams 2025.

However, the Garo Hills continues to fare poorly in comparison to Khasi – Jaintia Hills. This year, West Jaintia Hills was the best performer with 96.03 pass percentage, followed by Eastern West Khasi Hills – 95.54, South West Khasi Hills – 94.93, East Khasi Hills – 92.54%, East Jaintia Hills – 92.40%, West Khasi Hills – 90.50%, and Ri Bhoi – 89.33%.
