Ampati, May 14: The MCS (Meghalaya Civil Service) Trainee Officers Batch of 2025 undertook a field visit to South West Garo Hills district on Tuesday as part of their training and exposure programme. The visit of the 35 MCS Trainee Officers aimed to provide the trainees with firsthand experience of administrative functioning at the district level and to foster better understanding of grassroots governance.
During their visit, the trainees interacted with the District Administrative Officers and the Superintendent of Police at the DRDA Conference Hall, Ampati. The session offered valuable insights into the roles and responsibilities of district officials, as well as the challenges and opportunities in governance and law enforcement in the region.
The trainees also observed the day-to-day functioning of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), gaining practical exposure to administrative operations and public service delivery mechanisms.
In the latter half of the visit, the trainees travelled to the International Border and Kalaichar Border Haat. The visit highlighted the importance of cross-border trade, security coordination, and community engagement in border areas.
