SHILLONG, JUNE 12: Deputy Chief Minister in charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong has informed that the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government will soon take up with the Centre for speedy implementation of the inner line permit (ILP) and inclusion of Khasi and Garo languages in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Tynsong said, “again we wait till such time when everything is settled, Chief Minister and myself we will go again to Delhi and we will again be meeting the leaders, Prime Minister, Home Minister and other ministers in the government of India, reminding and refreshing again the pending issues like ILP, inclusion of languages and also any other issues, which are important for the state of Meghalaya.”
On the other hand, Tynsong, who is also state president of the National People’s Party (NPP), also slammed the Congress MP from Tura Saleng A Sangma for alleging that the former MP Agatha K Sangma had never spoken a single word about ILP demand in the parliament.
“May be Saleng he has just been elected just a few days back, I don’t know from where he got all these information whether Agatha raised this issue or not but the direction given by the party be it Rajya Sabha MP or be it Lok Sabha we have already directed both of them to take up this issue with the government of India be it inside the parliament or be it at the level of the government,” he said.
