Shillong, Jan 26: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government’s top priority is to “wipe out” illegal activities.
“Let me reassure the citizens of the state that the MDA government is all out against illegal activities be it coal mining, be it robbery, be it anything…,” Tynsong said.
He was reacting to the BJP state president Ernest Mawrie’s allegation that the MDA has failed to take action against illegal mining of coal and its transportation.
Asking the BJP to refrain from any attempt to misinterpret, Tynsong said, “You can’t blame the state government for the illegal activities they keep on happening…”
The Deputy Chief Minister however said that the state government is committed to wipe out all illegal activities in the state.
“Our main agenda from the government side is to make sure that we will wipe out and we are going to wipe out (all illegal activities),” he added.
Mawrie has also demanded the Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui to step down while condemning the recent coal mining accident which killed 6 labourers in East Jaintia Hills district.
Tynsong said that a criminal case has been registered in this connection. “The district administration and the police are on the job so let the law takes its own course of action,” he stated.
