Shillong, June 27: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma would soon convene a meeting of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) to take a collective decision on the upcoming election to elect the new President of India, fixed on July 18.
“At an appropriate time, we will also be calling a meeting of MDA to discuss this issue,” Sangma told reporters on Monday.
Sangma informed that he had already spoken to almost all the coalition partners before he went to Delhi for putting his name as one of the proposals as requested by the leaders of the NDA and BJP.
“I had spoken to almost all the coalition partners and I have requested them and I told them that I am going on behalf of the NPP as its president to sign (the proposal) but I do hope that the support of your party will also be there and in an appropriate time, I will call a meeting,” he said.
Sangma said that he had already briefed all NPP leaders about his visit to Delhi and the decision to support the NDA nominee for the presidential election.
