Meghalaya announces “free Covid vaccination” for the 18-44 age group

Shillong, May 4: In a good turn of events amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Meghalaya government has decided to make vaccination free of cost. The government on Tuesday has made payments to the manufacturing company for 42,000 vaccination doses.

Addressing the media persons, deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong said that they have paid Rs 300 per dose to the company and are waiting for it to arrive.

“The vaccination will immediately begin for citizens above 18-years-old and above, which will be free of cost once it arrives,” said Tynsong.

Meanwhile, the government also discussed about the stock of essential commodities.
Tynsong informed that citizens shouldn’t worry since they have enough stock. “I would like to inform that Government of India has been kind enough to sanction additional allotment of rice under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) for month of May and June,” said Tynsong.

He added that lifting of rice has just started and distribution will take place within this month.

339 total active cases was recorded on Tuesday taking the total to 2019. There was a total of 204 recovered cases.
