Shillong, March 2: With the counting underway for the Meghalaya Assembly Elections held on February 27, 2023, the National People’s Party (NPP) had won atleast 3 seats till the counting of votes till 11 am.
The counting of ballots began at 8 am on Thursday morning.
With the results coming in, NPP had won from Mendipathar, Dalu and Resubelpara constituency.
Marthon J Sangma won from Mendipathar seat, Brening A Sangma won from Dalu seat by defeating BJP’s Akki A Sangma by a close margin, and Timothy D. Shira of NPP won from.
Marthon J Sangma secured 9165 votes. He defeated his nearest rival by 3925 votes. His nearest rival was Timjim K. Momin of Congress, who secured 5420 votes. The total votes counted were 24357.
Timothy D. Shira retained the Resubelpara seat by securing 10,715 votes at the end of counting. He defeated by nearest rival by a margin of 3466 votes. his nearest rival was Rinaldo K. Sangma of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), who polled 7249 votes.
Similarly, Brening A Sangma won from Dalu seat by defeating BJP’s Akki A Sangma by a close margin as Akki was leading till 2nd round.
