SHILLONG, July 26: The autumn session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will be held from August 23 to 30.
There will be five working days of which three days have been allotted for government business and two days for private members’ business.
Assembly Speaker Thomas A Sangma on Friday said that the calendar for the Assembly session has been approved by the Business Advisory Committee (BAC).
“So the autumn session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will be convened on August 23 till August 30. We have decided to have five working days after we have compared the last year’s session,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Assembly Speaker also clarified that there is no change in the post of Leader of Opposition, which is currently being held by Congress leader Ronnie V Lyngdoh. The Congress has been reduced to four MLAs in the 60-member House after Saleng A Sangma resigned as Gambegre MLA following his election as Tura MP.
“I am only talking about the Assembly session but that will be decided later on and nothing so far has come up as you can see…I had already given my view that there is no change so far,” he stated.
