SHILLONG, April 2: BJP leader and cabinet minister AL Hek on Wednesday slammed Bangladesh interim government’s chief advisor Muhammad Yunus for making offensive remarks on the north-eastern states during his four-day trip to China.
Yunus had stated that the seven states of north-eastern India, called the seven sisters, are landlocked and have no way to reach out to the ocean. Whereas Bangladesh is the “guardian of the ocean” for the region, which opens up a huge possibility and could be an extension for the Chinese economy.
Reacting to this, Hek said that the government will not allow any outside force to interfere with the affairs of our country particularly the NE region. “We will not allow any outside force to interfere with our country particularly in the North East. Why should we allow people from outside to interfere?” he asked.
The minister also maintained that the statement made by the Bangladesh leader will not be tolerated.
Asked, Hek said, “So many letters have gone. Why should we write? We are living peacefully here. If we have any problems from any external force then only, we will write but there is no such kind of external forces that are attacking our state so why should write at this juncture.”
