Shillong, May 28: Meghalaya recorded 731 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, but the silver lining for the state is that 941 patients made recovery at the same time. This is the highest single-day recovery for the State so far.
As per the bulletin from the health department, the state recorded 20 fresh deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total death tally to 544.
The state’s positivity rate stands at 23.72 per cent, which is a matter of concern for the government as compared to the national average, which is hovering around 9 per cent.
Meghalaya has been witnessing a rapid increase in COVID-19 cases during the second wave, but the curve is on the decline after two weeks of a consistently high positive rate.
The state has so far recorded 33835 cases of corona, of which the active cases are 8025 while 25,266 people have recovered.
The government has been ramping up health facilities in the state to manage the situation better and flatten the curve while concerned citizens have also joined in the effort to ensure enough beds are available and ration is made available to all.
The major area of concern for the government right now is to minimise the death count in the state in addition to increasing the recovery rate.
The steady dip in the number of cases in Meghalaya is indeed a positive sign for the state.
