Shillong, June 17: An advisory was issued by the District Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya on Saturday asking public to avoid traveling from Sonapyrdi (Sonapur) Tunnel. The advisory also suggested people to take alternate routes wherever feasible.
The advisory was issued following the massive flow of debris and mud from adjoining hills on the Sonapyrdi (Sonapur) Tunnel on Saturday.
It has also informed that the restoration of vehicular movements is likely to take around 24 hours for clearing the same.
The public is advised to avoid traveling on this route as much as possible and take alternate routes wherever feasible.
Meanwhile, pictures of Lalan singh Amse and Stanly Lamin (both govt wholesalers) distributing relief items to all the stranded passengers on NH 06 while clearing of debris was underway.
On Friday, fresh landslide occurred in the morning at Sonapur tunnel, blocking all the vehicular movement on National Highway-6.
