Meghalaya earns national recognition for PDS reforms, supply chain optimization

Shillong, Dec 5: Meghalaya has been recognised as a frontrunner in Public Distribution System (PDS) reforms, earning national acclaim during the launch of “Anna Chakra”, an advanced supply chain optimisation tool.

The event, hosted by the Department of Food and Public Distribution, Government of India, was inaugurated by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi.

The recognition celebrates Meghalaya’s transformative efforts to make the PDS more transparent, efficient, and accountable, ensuring food grains reach beneficiaries swiftly and reliably.

Commissioner and Secretary Pravin Bakshi hailed the achievement as a result of teamwork and innovation. The department successfully implemented a key server upgrade in a record-breaking four days, a feat he attributed to the dedication of officials and collaboration with the World Food Programme, IIT Delhi, and NIC.

Food Civil Supplies Minister Comingone Ymbon commended the team for positioning Meghalaya as a national example in PDS reform. “These improvements not only enhance service delivery but also reflect our commitment to the welfare of our citizens,” Ymbon said.
