Meghalaya eases COVID-19 restrictions

Shillong, Feb 9: Meghalaya government on Wednesday decided to ease COVID-19 restrictions in the state with the decrease in COVID cases, with the most significant being that people don’t need to undergo RT-PCR test to enter the state if they are double vaccinated.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma informed that night curfew will also be lifted. The night curfew has been in effect from 10 pm to 5 am.

The ease in restrictions will come in effect from February 11, 2022.

Relaxations in COVID-19 protocols


– Double vaccinated don’t need to undergo RT-PCR test to enter Meghalaya

– Night curfew to be lifted

– Schools will be fully functional from Monday onwards. Currently classes 6-12 have offline classes in Shillong but from Monday classes 1-5 will be held offline.

– No permission for funerals will be required but COVID protocols to be followed along with the number of people.

– As for large gatherings, public meetings, weddings and processions, permissions have been granted which was done few weeks back. Persons would only require to get permission from the Deputy Commissioner or the SDO and numbers will be decided by them based on the venue where the function will take place.

– only double vaccinated people to be allowed in bars, restaurants and movie theatres

– Vehicles will continue to ply on odd and even basis.
