Shillong, Oct 28: The over 90,000 Meghalaya government employees and pensioners would have a reason to celebrate during this festive season with the government increasing the Dearness Allowance/ Dearness relief (DA/DR) by 3 percent.
The Finance department through an Office memorandum has announced that the DA/DR would be hiked from the existing 43 percent to 46 percent. This hike would be effective from July 1, 2024.
This enhancement will also extend to members of the work-charged establishment and casual workers (excluding bungalow peons) who hold positions with pay levels equivalent to those of the corresponding categories in the regular establishment, services, or posts.
The payment on account of DA/DR involving fractions of 50 paise and above may be rounded off to the next higher rupee and the fraction of less than 50 paise may be ignored, the memo stated.
Moreover, the payment on account of the DA/DR will be debited to the respective heads of accounts from which the employees draw their salary and the pensioners, family pension holders, their pension.
