Shillong, Jan 9: The 5th Edition of the Meghalaya Games 2024 Torch Relay was flagged off on Tuesday by the Minister Incharge of Sports and Youth Affairs, Shakliar Warjri, scheduled to be held from January 15 to 20 in Tura, West Garo Hills District.
Minister Shakliar initiated the torch relay from the SSA Stadium in Shillong, witnessing participation from numerous athletes representing different districts and other government officials.
The torch was passed by the Minister to Binningstar Lyngkhoi, a senior long-distance runner who has earned numerous medals for the state in both national and international competitions.
Lyngkhoi will carry the torch to the venue in Tura.
As the countdown begins for the Meghalaya Games 2024, the stage is set for a remarkable inaugural ceremony on January 15th. President Draupadi Murmu’s participation will add a significant touch of prestige to the event, elevating the excitement surrounding the upcoming sporting spectacle.
