Tura, Jan 11: The third match of the day for U-18 Boys’ Football of the 5th Meghalaya Games 2024 between South West Garo Hills (SWGH) and West Khasi Hills (WKH) was the most exciting of the day as the other two matches hardly had any excitement as the winners were clearly well ahead of their opponents. But the SWGH versus WKH turned out to be quite an intense confrontation with the West Khasi Hills winning the contest by just a solitary goal.

It is to be mentioned that all the group matches for the U-18 Boy’s Football competition are being held at the Govt Boy’s Higher School Playground, Chandmari, Tura. Only the semi-finals and final would be played on a different venue.

The West Khasi Hills managed to score the only goal of the match in the first half after much struggle with the defenders of South West Garo Hills. South West Garo Hills were also relentless in their attacks but were unlucky not to find the back of the net. While they couldn’t win the match, they showed great grit and determination, earning much appreciation from the crowd.

In the second half, despite trying their hardest to increase the margin, West Khasi Hills couldn’t find the back of the net again. However, they put up a good front to ensure they did not concede any goal to an unrelenting South West Garo Hills.

West Khasi Hills will next confront East Khasi Hills on January 13, 2024 at 2 PM. South West Garo Hills will meet East Khasi Hills on January 16, 2024 at 2 PM.
