Shillong, Jan 24: Meghalaya is set to celebrate Republic Day with grandeur on January 26, honoring the spirit of democracy and unity. Ceremonial parades will take place across various district headquarters, sub-divisions and other key locations, where dignitaries will unfurl the National Flag and take salute.

In Shillong, Governor CH Vijayashankar will preside over the main ceremony. Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma will lead the celebrations in Tura, while Deputy Chief Ministers Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhalang Dhar will head the events in Nongstoin and Mawkyrwat, respectively.

Other ministers presiding over the celebrations include:

•Paul Lyngdoh in Nongpoh

•Comingone Ymbon in Jowai

•AT Mondal in Williamnagar

•Rakkam A. Sangma in Baghmara

•Marcuise N. Marak in Resubelpara

•Dr. M Ampareen Lyngdoh in Ampati

•Kyrmen Shylla in Khliehriat

•Shakliar Warjri in Mairang

In the Civil Sub-divisions, the ceremonies will be led by MLAs as follows:

•Sanjay A. Sangma at Sohra

•Gavin Mylliemngap at Amlarem

•Marthon J. Sangma at Dadenggre

•Dr. Celestine Lyngdoh at Pynursla

•Sengchim N. Sangma at Chokpot

•Limison D. Sangma at Raksamgre

•Gabriel Wahlang at Mawshynrut

•Ian Botham K. Sangma at Ranikor

•Charles Marngar at Patharkhmah

•Jim M. Sangma at Rongjeng

•Subir Marak at Jengjal

•Brening A. Sangma at Dalu

Additionally, MLA Santa Mary Shylla will unfurl the National Flag and take salute at the ceremonial parade in Hima Shangpung (Laskein C&RD Block).

AT-HOME Reception at Raj Bhavan

On the same day, Governor CH Vijayashankar will host an ‘AT-HOME’ reception at Raj Bhavan in Shillong to mark the Republic Day occasion.
