Shillong, May 28: The Meghalaya Government has initiated the process to obtain University Grants Commission (UGC) recognition for Captain Williamson Sangma State University.
Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma announced that once the recognition is granted, the state government will begin affiliating colleges in the state to this university.
This move is expected to ease the inconvenience caused by the Central University Entrance Test (CUET) examination. Students who prefer colleges affiliated with the state university will no longer need to take the CUET, providing significant relief to those not opting for central universities.
