Shillong, Nov 19: Minister in-charge Public Health Engineering (PHE) Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar on Thursday informed that the state government has accorded administrative approval for over 309 schemes under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) amounting to Rs 615 crore.
“I am happy to inform everyone that the scheme is covering the entire state. We have around 200 schemes in Khasi and Jaintia Hills and also 109 schemes in Garo Hills,” Tongkhar told reporters.
He said Mawlai Mawtawar is also one of the beneficiaries.
“Leaders of Mawlai have come to me several times requesting for this scheme. So I am happy to inform you that this scheme was also sanctioned,” the minister added.
Meanwhile, Tongkhar said the tendering process has already started for implementation of these schemes. He hoped that the work of all these schemes will begin as soon as possible.
