Shillong, June 6: Meghalaya Government on Tuesday decided to amend May 2022 Office Memorandum (OM) on the Reservation Roster, to allow immediate job recruitment process in the different departments of the state.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma informed that the recommendations given by the all party committee has been included to amend the OM.

“It has been amended to include certain aspects and necessary details of OM will be released in a few days,” informed Sangma after a cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

He added that with this amended which will be done likely by Wednesday or day after, means that the recruitment process will continue.

“With these amendments in the OM, the process of recruitment will also be starting post the OM for the reservation roster that will come out likely tomorrow or day after tomorrow,” mentioned the chief minister.

Concerning the roster, Sangma reiterated that it is a continuous process and continuity is there and that it starts with 1972. “In the past many years, the position that are there has been filled up by certain communities in some and different communities in others. Hence, whatever case maybe those positions were filled up but roster plotting is required to allow us to know where we are in the roster today,” said Sangma.

Explaining that the hold on recruitment is not healthy, Sangma stated that if they put a stop to recruitment, then many of the youngsters who are meant to get jobs and who are going to apply for them will become overage as the days go by. As such, in the larger interest of ensuring that the youth get the jobs while the review on Reservation Policy continues, the recruitment will continue.
