Shillong, Nov 6: Meghalaya’s Education Minister, Rakkam A. Sangma, announced that the state government has approved scholarships for students in the two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) program. This financial aid, provided by the Education Department, aims to support teacher training candidates at the Cherra Teachers’ Training Centre (CTTC) in Sohra and the District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) across Meghalaya.
For students at CTTC, Sohra, the scholarship is capped at Rs. 50 lakh for the 2024-2025 academic session. Meanwhile, a larger allocation of Rs. 5 crore has been sanctioned for DIETs, underscoring the state’s commitment to enhancing elementary teacher education.
Deputy Secretary of the Education Department, B. Marbaniang, confirmed the sanction.
