Meghalaya Govt sends officials to probe death of 13-year-old student in Karnataka

Shillong, March 17: The state government has deputed two officials to visit Karnataka and submit a detailed report into the death of a 13 year old Meghalaya student in an alleged illegal hostel in Karnataka.

Inspector of Schools and Sub Divisional School Education Officer P Sunn and R Kharsyntiew from District MIS, PM – POSHAN have been deputed to visit Karnataka to coordinate with the concerned district administration and also with the parents of all the children from Meghalaya, Director School of Education and Literacy Swapnil Tembe said in a statement.

“They shall also submit a detailed report on the incident subsequently,” he added.

It may be mentioned, 13 year old Kerlang died on Sunday due to suspected food poisoning in Malavalli, Karnataka.

The 13 year old boy from Langkyrdeng under Pynursla Sub-Division had consumed food from a Holi feast on Friday. Kerlang suddenly collapsed on Sunday and died before doctors could attend to him.
