Shillong, Nov 10: Meghalaya cabinet on Wednesday decided to give pension benefits to the 3635 ad-hoc employees who were working against sanctioned post but were regularised based on a Supreme Court ruling which stated that employees who were employed before December 31, 2007 on ad hoc basis will be regularised.

Based on the Supreme Court ruling, which allowed the state governments to take a one time decision, decision was taken to regularise the 3635 ad-hoc employees who were working against the sanctioned post.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that only in this particular case, the government has decided that the pension amount will also be given to the ad-hoc employees as they have been regularised and, hence, those who have passed away and those who are retired will also now get the benefits.
