Shillong, May 26: With Meghalaya reporting a high number of COVID cases on a daily basis, the state government has decided to turn towards the divine intervention to help it in its efforts to curb the cases and heal those suffering from the deadly virus. As such, the Meghalaya government has decided to organize a special prayer against COVID-19 on May 30, 2021 at 12 noon.
“As human beings, we will not be able to protect ourselves. We need God’s intervention, God’s blessings, without him we are nobody. That is why we should have a special prayer,” BJP leader and Health Minister, Alexander Laloo Hek told reporters here on Wednesday.
He said the decision has been arrived at after discussion with the Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma.
He also urged all citizens of the state to join hands with the government in praying. “We request everybody in their respective houses to assemble at 12 noon on May 30 and pray to the Almighty for his protection,” Hek said.
According to him, the Directorate of Information and Public Relation (DIPR) has been asked to circulate the message for the information of all citizens.
