Shillong, May 14: The Meghalaya High Court has sought a fresh status report on the six pending criminal cases against MPs and MLAs in the state.
The bench headed by Justice HS Thangkhiew in its order on May 13 said, “Accordingly, list this matter on 1st August, 2025 for fresh status report.”
A status report filed by the GA on May 9 indicated that there are 6 pending cases in three districts that include East Khasi Hills – 3 cases, West Jaintia Hills -1 case and West Garo Hills- 2 cases.

“Though the status remains the same, it is seen that with regard to the Special CBI case No. 2 of 2020, the total number of witnesses has been scaled down from 492 to 181 and 28 so far has been examined,” the bench stated.
