Shillong, Nov 27: Meghalaya Pavilion secured the Silver Medal for excellence in display among States and Union Territories at the 43rd India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2024, organized by the India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO). The award was presented during the ceremony held on November 27, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

W.G. Momin, Meghalaya Pavilion Director, received the award on behalf of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) in the presence of S.L. Mawlong, Public Relations Officer, DIPR, and B.F. Sunn and A.D. Shira, Functional Managers from the Commerce and Industries Department. The award was handed over by Pradeep Singh Kharola, ITPO Chairman and Managing Director, who served as the Chief Guest.

The IITF 2024, held from November 14 to 27, focused on the theme “Viksit Bharat @2047,” reflecting India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047. The event showcased progress, innovation, and cultural heritage, featuring participation from States, Union Territories, ministries, and private enterprises across India.

Meghalaya’s representation included departments like Tourism, Commerce and Industries, and Meghalayan Age Limited, with the Directorate of Information and Public Relations as the Nodal Department. Additionally, eight units sponsored by the Directorate of Commerce and Industries showcased indigenous products from various parts of the state, promoting Meghalaya’s unique cultural and economic offerings.
