Shillong, Aug 20: Meghalaya Police on Friday morning seized huge cache of explosives from an Assam bound vehicle at Byrnihat, Ri Bhoi district.
According to a press statement from the police department, the vehicle was seized at the wee hours of Friday morning.
Based on intelligence inputs checking was conducted on the National Highway near the Byrnihat Police Out-Post, which resulted in seizure of a vehicle bearing the registration number – AS-01/BV-8065 carrying the huge quantity of explosives.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as one Moynul Hoque of Rangaswari village under Kamrup district of Assam, has been arrested.
The recovered explosives include 2044 aluminum Instantaneous Electric Detonator Class-6 (Division-3) and 4027 Neo Gel (Gelatine Sticks).
According to the police, the vehicle was coming from Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills and was heading to Athiabari, Assam.
