Meghalaya police urges people not to share fake and malicious messages

SHILLONG, MAR 31: East Khasi Hills SP Rituraj Ravi on Saturday informed that some fake and motivated messages are being circulated on social media in connection with the incident that happened on March 27 at Ichamati.

“Such unwarranted and malicious messages pose a serious threat to peace, and law and order. In this regard, it is requested to not give unnecessary publicity to such malafide activities without verifying the veracity first,” Ravi said in a statement.

This came after an open letter surfaced in social media today.

“We, further, urge the people to not share or forward such fake and malicious messages without first verifying its correctness. We hereby request the full cooperation of all individuals in combating the spread of fake and malicious messages on social media,” the SP said.
