Meghalaya Rainfall: Advisory issued as very heavy rain expected over EJH in next 24 hrs

Shillong, June 16: Meghalaya Police on Friday issued advisory after very heavy rain to extremely heavy Rain is forecasted at most places over Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills in the next 24 hours.

In the advisory, the Police has advised citizens and commuters to follow some of the instructions given below-

– In the advisory, the people of the areas has been asked to avoid going to or near river streams, drains or any water bodies.

– They have also asked the commuters to remain alefrt while travelling through landslide prone areas.

– People are also asked to avoid being underneath a tree/tallest object during Lightning.

– They have also been asked to avoid travelling through Maledor – Sonapur stretch of the NH06 which is prone to Landslides unless absolutely necessary.

– Also, those who cannot avoid travelling through Maledor- Sonapur stretch of the NH06 are advised to carry with them light provisions for emergency such as biscuits, drinking water.

-People are also asked to dial 112 in case of any emergency.

This comes a day after fresh Mudslide was reported at Sonapur Tunnel on Thursday morning.

Also, Mudslide at Sonapur Tunnel was reported on Wednesday which resulted to road blockade.

Meanwhie, a state level weather warning has been issued for North Eastern states.
