Shillong, June 13: An advisory has been issued for rainfall, thunderstorm and lightning in Meghalaya. Various regions the state is experiencing heavy rain and thunderstorm from the past couple of day, providing relief from the hot and dusty weather that had persisted for the past few days.
On Tuesday, cloudy skies, gusty winds and heavy rainfall was reported in some parts of the state.
As per the bulletin released by DIPR, Meghalaya, it has been forecasted that a significant portion of the state is likely to experience rainfall along with thunderstorms with the onset of the Monsoon seasons.
The advisory issued, have asked the citizents of the state to follow some instructions during this season:
– People living in areas near the rivers and streams have been asked to take extra care during the rainy season as there is a likelihood of flash floods in such areas.
– It has asked the people to avoid going near the waters walk through moving water and stay away from streams, drains and culvertd, etc.
– People have been asked to not drive through flooded areas and to stay away from electric polls or power lines to avaoid electrocution.
-School/ College going students have been asked to not cross rivers and streams during heavy rain.
– Also, the tourists have been advised not to venture in streams, rivers and waterfalls while visiting any tourist spots.
