Shillong, June 15: The Deputy Comissioner and Chairman, District Disaster Mananagement Authority of North Garo Hills, Meghalaya on Thursday directed all the school authorities in the district to remain closed on Friday due to prevailing bad weather conditions.
The order was made as per the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
The decision to keep all the schools closed in the district was made keeping a note on safety and welfare of the students as topmost priority.

This comes at a time when some parts of the state is witnessing heavy rainfall with thunderstorm and gusty wind.
Several areas have also been affected by the continous downpour and are affected by water logging and flood like situations.
According to reports, some people also lost their lives due to heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, state level weather warning have been issued for North Eastern states.
