Meghalaya renames seven roads, two buildings

Shillong, Aug 2: The state government has renamed seven roads and two buildings with immediate effect.

A notification issued by GAD secretary CVD Diengdoh dated July 29, 2024 said the approach road from NH-217 to Baghmara Bong Market has been renamed as ‘Capt. Williamson A. Sangma Road’, the road from Mawkdok to the Office of the Syiem of Hima Sohra via Motor Station lewbah Sohra to Syiem Duwansing Syiem Road, the road from Sohra (Gate) Nongsawlia via Saitsophen to Mawsmai Road to U Thomas Jones Road, the PWD road from near Bajengdoba U.P School upto the residence of the Martyr, Ullum R Marak to Ullum R Marak Road, the road from Mawkhar Community Hall to Jaiaw Langsning Community Hall to Doctor Hugh Gordon Roberts road, the Holy Cross Hospital Road to Bishop George Mamalassery road and the road from the Office of the Superintendent of Police, West Garo Hills leading to Police Reserve, Tura to Rel leo Sangma road.

Also, the Raitong Building has been renamed as Lum Shyllong Building and the GNM School of Nursing Nongpoh to GNM School of Nursing Pahamsyiem Nongpoh.

The government has also renamed Lumbatngen (Law-u-Sib) as Lumbatngen.
