Shillong, April 19: Clearing of the outstanding dues amounting to Rs 565 crore to National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) will be completed by March 2026.
The outstanding with the NTPC as on March 31, 2023 was Rs 664 crore liability after adjustment with LPSC only.
With negotiations with the NTPC officials, it was agreed to settle the above outstanding at Rs 565 crore.

It may be mentioned here that there is no space available for availing working capital loan by the MePDCL on its own as per the limit prescribed under the Meghalaya Electricity tariff regulations read with additional prudential norms notified by the Ministry of Power, Government of India in this regard.
“The government of Meghalaya, therefore, agreed to the liquidation plan for clearing of the outstanding dues and to liquidate the dues in 36 equal monthly instalments with effect from April 2023 at Rs 15.70 crore per month. The clearing of outstanding due is going on monthly basis and shall be completed by March 2026,” sources in the power department said.
