Guwahati, May 25: The people of Assam are reeling under scorching heat and the mercury level continues to rise across most of the districts.
The temperature in Guwahati today reached 40.1 degrees Celsius, nearing the all-time high 40.3 degrees mark recorded on May 1, 1960, as per IMD data.
Earlier, we reported that the temperature in Guwahati and other districts is 5 to 7 degrees above normal. Tezpur recorded 39.5 degrees Celsius, which is 8.3 degrees higher than normal.
An IMD official at the Guwahati regional center said that on May 25, 2024, Guwahati recorded 40.1 degrees Celsius, 8 degrees above the average temperature.
